Have you heard the news that Surrey was named the ‘Top British Columbia Investment Towns’ late last week … again?
This is the fourth consecutive year Surrey was won this award given by Real Estate Investment Network (REIN).
City Mayor Dianne Watts says, “We are committed to fostering an environment for investment, innovation and high quality of life, while maintaining the lowest residential taxes in the region.”
So what is so great about Surrey and how does REIN determine which city is the best place to invest? Criteria for the annual award includes:
- Location
- Population
- Income
- Housing market trends
- Economic and social trends
- Infrastructure
- Political leadership
REIN gathers all of this information from organizations include the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), Multiple Listing Service (MLS), Canadian Home Builders Association plus city and regional real estate boards.
This isn’t the only organization to recognize Surrey for its lucrative investment potential. Surrey was also named by Business Review Canada as one of the top five real estate investment cities in Canada in 2012. The Western Investor Magazine also named Surrey the best place in Western Canada to invest in real estate in 2011.
