While there are people and families in need throughout the year in our communities, the holidays seem to make the question, “How can I help?”, a bit simpler. As we gather with family and celebrate our blessings and abundance, our thoughts often go to those less fortunate. So where do you start? Locally is easiest and best. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities right in our own backyard. Modeling civic responsibility to our children is the best way to show them the importance of being involved in our communities. By reaching out and providing support where we can, we help create communities we can be proud of. There are plenty of organizations that need support throughout the year. Below are some links to help you find the right fit for you and your family.

Make Your Mark – Volunteer in Surrey
Volunteering is about commitment and caring. It’s about helping people and working together with others who share a common goal. It’s about the difference that individuals can make in the life of our community as well as their own.
As a non-profit, charitable organization, the Surrey Food Bank is able to operate only due to donations of money and food. These donations come from individuals, organizations, and corporations as well as various fundraising efforts, such as our Breakfast With the Bank or from third party events run by other organizations. We receive no government funding.
The Surrey Food Bank Society is run by an elected, volunteer Board of Directors. The Board oversees the Executive Director, staff and volunteers who manage the day-to-day operation of the food bank.
Support Fraser Health in your community by volunteering your time. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities including spiritual care and religious support in hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centres and community health programs.
